How It's Made

Lost Wax Casting: Rei Tionko specializes in the ancient metal technique, lost wax casting. His detailed, hand-sculpted wax models are created and encased in a temporary ceramic shell. Then the wax is melted away through an 8-hour burnout process in the kiln, leaving a cavity that is filled with molten sterling silver, to create a precise replica of the original wax design.

Sterling Silver: Rei Tionko’s sterling silver is a precious metal made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper alloy to strengthen it. It has the potential to tarnish overtime; to some that may add more character to the design and If not, then it can simply be cleaned. Sterling Silver can last a lifetime and be passed on for many generations if properly cared for.
